I’m happy to share a talk I had this week with an Oxford, MS rock-n’-roll legend, Tyler Keith. Tyler played guitar in the legendary garage punk band The Neckbones before moving on to make a string of solo records under his own name, Tyler Keith & The Preachers Kids and Tyler Keith and the Apostles. He took writing classes at the University of Mississippi under the infamous Barry Hannah, and has written a stage play called The Outlaw Biker, as well as a new novel that’s set to come out on November 11, 2022 called The Mark of Cain.
We talk about his experiences growing up in Florida, moving to Mississippi, studying under Hannah, and how he got started playing music. We also talk a good deal about his book and his songs and I play a lot of music along the way. Strap in because Tyler’s old Datsun ain’t got any breaks and there’s a Stooges tape stuck in the deck.
